It's Deja Vu All Over Again! No sound from soft synths

Hey All,

Thanks in advance for your help, especially Professor Beagle, who has helped me in the past.

I upgraded my machine to Windows 7, 32-bit. It seems OK. I spoke with Cakewalk, and the kid told me that I should have no issues. He also suggested running it in XP Compatible Mode, which I am doing.

I am using a Lexicon Alpha, and the drivers are updated.

I have been able to record audio tracks, but when it comes to Soft Synths I get nothing.

Let's use Session Drummer, b/c that is the latest one. There is no sound. The drums do activate, and I get a level in Sesson Drummer, but no sound.

So, I have a feeling I am being stupid and have not set up the Lexicon properly. What am I missing in settings?

Thanks again.

Mike.

I have been able to record audio

    UPDATE:

So when I "play" the drums, I get sound now. I set the output. Drag it into a MIDI track.....Nothing plays back. First off, what kind of drivers should I be using? MME, ASIO, etc?

And is that it? What should my input/outputs should be set at?

    Thanks again.

I would always use ASIO if it's available.
What is it you're dragging into the MIDI track?

... by clicking on the eighth note with the + next to it?
Check that your MIDI track's output is set to the synth.

Have you tried playing the Tutorial files?

Check the Windows mixer and the soundcard's control panel.
