This could be useful with X1....

....especially with the HDMI hooked up to another 55" monitor. I'd prefer to have a Studicat computer running it. Seriously, will X1 work with a touchscreen. With one this large the using the mixer would be really cool... if it will work. I imagine this tech is pretty expensive now but will probably be more affordable sooner than later.

I saw some of these at the MS store at Lenox Mall in ATL yesterday. I didn't think to look much at them, my grand daughter was with me and I spent my time watching her have fun with the X-Box 360 and kinect with the dance game, while cbow shopped over at the Pottery Barn.. zzzzzzzzzz.

Anyway, is there any future for the DAW and the touchscreen table or any touchscreen big enough to be practical?

I think it's unavoidable. Just look at the growing number of music applications for iPad...  Or touch screen remote controllers for DAW.

I have TouchOSC installed on my iPhone with which I can control Logic. I basically just wanted to try it and get a glimpse, and I don't really use it - key commands and my MIDI are enough to keep me flying. But I must admit that with a larger screen, I'd probably be tempted to include it in my rig.

Also Knowing that Microsoft has slated touch control as a primary control method for Windows 8 (whatever it's formal name is)...

So the mouse is soon to be a relic of the "primitive" computers as we enter the touchscreenera followed by the years-late voice control (if that ever becomes actual ;-))

If you want to check out some multi-touch madness have a look at Konkreet Performer for the iPad - I just stumbled on it this morning while down a research rabbithole looking for something else. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the video(s) over at Synthtopia:

very cool stuff! Now imagine it running on that table thing, or on part of it... integrated as a controller in X1... and and and...

I assume it can be tilted up?  If not I'd get serious neck-ache using Sonar on that...

MS had a table out like that 1+ years ago.. and as skyline mentions , the thing about neckache would come into question..

mouse(s) are around for a long time yet, sometimes tactile is better.. e.g. why controller surfaces sell so well.. and emulations of classic games are rubbish with a touch screen and you need keyboard or joystick for.

    speaking of which

and NO I don't own an ipad... if they can figure out how to get around the tactile thing.. then it'll be a license to print money as much.
