What a waste... kinda

I got the Squier Strat Rock Band guitar, for the MIDI capability.

Not my cuppa tea.

1. Each string is it's own MIDI channel 1 thru 6. SoftSynth needs to be able to operate in Omni mode or you have to load 6 instances (as I did in SampleTank)
2. It requires this spring loaded mute bar to be engaged (looks like a neck pickup but with a sponge surface) in order to register MIDI
3. Its responsiveness is not good
4. Due to number 2, it does not feel like you're even remotely playing a guitar (IMO)
5. It requires 3 AA batteries to power the MIDI port
6. As a guitar, it's a Squier with a single pickup in the bridge position.
7. The neck is B-U-L-K-Y!!!

Live and learn. It was a $100 investment so no big loss.

At least my grandsons have Rock Band at home so I can give it to them.

Does it have the Pete Townshend aerodynamic profile that allows the player to hit things with it at an improved velocity over the typical Strat?

    Does the bapu have Reaktor?

Or try this - hook a sustain pedal up to operate only on the low Am string's channel, use an arpeggiated patch on that channel, then hit a note, step on the sustain pedal, and have some fun on the other Am strings.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

At the end of your next Who cover band gig, be sure to grab it as the "guitar to destroy" instead of one of your good guitars...
