setting controller values in Piano Roll View

I have recently moved to X1 Essential after years of Home Studio . various versions.
I want to be able to use the draw tool to draw a  line to set all the velocity values of notes  of a midi track.
I have used this for a long time in previous versions and can not work out how to get it to work for X1 Essential
I have tried looking through the help and reference manual . Cant find out how to do it .
sorry to be so lame. any help appreciated

    In the Piano Roll View....

    1. If the Controller pane isn't showing, choose View > Show/Hide Controller Pane from the Piano Roll View menu.
    2. Press F5 to choose the Smart tool.
    3. Press and hold ALT on your PC keyboard to freehand draw controller values in the Controller pane.
    4. Press and hold CTRL+SHIFT+ALT to line draw controller values.

    Scott .
    thanks for the quick reply.
I have tried what you say.
both 3 and 4 above dont do anything.
i can see the pencil icon showing its drawing..
I click and hold whist moving over the notes controller lines to try to set them
all to something similar.. I tried  draw , with line sub option set...
it does not change the velocities.

Are you holding down the left mouse button and "drawing" across the velocity lines?

(thanks Scott, I didn't know about the "4. Press and hold CTRL+SHIFT+ALT to line draw controller values."  Learned something new again(Still waiting for Kindle version to be available in Canada which I see will be soon)

    OK..
    got it work.
I re-read the instructions above. The vital thing is
hold the CTRL+SHIFT+ALT down while you are holding left mouse down.

    Thanks again everyone.

Actually, the most versatile way to edit controller values in the PRV is by using only the Alt key, as per Scott's #3 suggestion in post #2, which you said you couldn't make work.  That's free hand style editing, so you can get exactly what you want, curves, complete variety of velocity values etc - The CTRL+SHIFT+ALT method only gets you the plateau style line/ramp editing - which I guess is what you asked for, but I wanted to point out that the other way works fine and can get you finer results.

    Hey Lorne,

No problem... glad I could help! Yeah, hopefully, we'll see the Kindle version go worldwide sometime in the next couple months. Sorry again for the wait.

    Thanks!
