Dimension Pro, which version (32-bit or 64-bit) do I install please

When working away from base, I use Sonar VS (32-bit only) on a 64-bit laptop with the VS-100 hardware. I am about to upgrade from Dimension Pro LE, that was bundled with Sonar VS, to Dimension Pro.
My question is:  Do I install the 64-bit version of Dimension Pro, since I have a 64-bit machine, or do I have to install the 32-bit version, in order to instantiate the Dimension Pro VSTi  in Sonar VS which is 32-bit only?
In other words: Can you instatiate a 64-bit VSTi in a 32-bit VST host that is running on a 64-bit machine.
I'm really confused . How about a Sonar 32-bit/64-bit FAQ please
Many thanks
Alan T

    Alan,

I am 99.9% positive that you will need to install the 32 bit version. The VSTi must match the host software, which in this case is Sonar VS - only 32 bit.

jBridge can be used to accomplish this (allow you to run the 64bit version in Sonar VS), however I don't know if it will work well with Sonar VS. I suspect it would, but it would likely have to be setup manually. It's a $15 - $20 program that bridges VST's and VSTi's with the host, regardless of the bit version. You can run 64bit VST's in a 32bit Host, 32bit VSTs in a 64bit host, and even 32bit VST's in a 32bit Host (helps with memory limitations).

If that interests you, here is a link. There is a free trial so you can see if it works before you put out the money. http://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/

Charlie - Are you saying that the 64 bit version of Dim Pro works with Sonar VS (which is only a 32 bit host)?

Thank you for your response, clear explanation, and link to JBridge. As JStuff states 64-bit VSTi plugin to 32-bit VST host conversion as a feature of JBridge, then unless Cakewalk's BitBridge has this as a hidden feature then I must install the 32-bit version of Dimension Pro. This does beg the question however, can you install the standalone Dimension Pro 64-bit microhost, and the Dimension Pro 32-bit VSTi on the same machine, and use the same samples, but I really don't want to go there .

I too would be very interested to know if you have the 64-bit version of the VSTi working with Sonar VS, or if you were referring to the 64-bit microhost working okay on your 64-bit laptop?
    Many thanks
