sonar 8.5 crashing

Hi, Sonar has been really solid for me for a few months.

Suddenly today it started randomly crashing.  i tried rebooting etc.  And I can't seem to stop the crashing.   i am working on a project with 2 audio clips, and one dimension pro track.  All of which i've done many times before.  I'm not using any effects or anything.   It will randomly crash during playback.   I am using ASIO drivers, and CPU load stays way below 10%.

I have 8.5.2.222 installed.  Win7 64bit i7 processor.  Dedicated machine, not on the internet. MAudio FastTrack Pro interface is connected but nothing else.

Please help!

Any error message? Is Sonar crashing or is Windows crashing? Why haven't you updated to 8.5.3?

    Hi guys,
    Thanks for the tips.

Sonar was crashing while windows was stable.   There wasn't anything I was able to determine from the standard windows "this app is crashing" message box.
I have the most up to dat MAudio driver installed.

Good news however, updating to 8.5.3 seems to have fixed the problem (fingers crossed).   I ran my project through a loop for an hour last night and it appeared stable.    I had forgotten that I was using audiosnap in one of the audio tracks, which might have been the culprit given the changes that are documented in 8.5.3 (its mostly audiosnap if you haven't read it).

It might take me a while to regain my trust, but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing for a little while.

    Aaaargh!

I had just started a new project, and hadn't even recoded anything, and Sonar crashed again.  There is no specific error other than the windows "this application has crashed........dump file......"  sort of stuff.    Am I the only one this is happening to?

Windows 7 64bit  (no service pack installed, should I do this?)
i7 with lots of ram, etc.
    FastTrack Pro

Again, the computer seems stable, its just Sonar thats causing me trouble.   Any ideas?

Yes, apply the Windows service pack for sure. Check your control panel/administrative tools/event viewer to see what specific message it gives there under the Application errors logs. Then check on Microsoft's site to see if they have any error specific stuff for it. And you might change advanced system properties to use memory for programs instead of system processes. It sometimes helps....
If SONAR is the only application giving you this kind of trouble, you might also want to disable DEP for that particular application. Just a thought or two...
Most problems that aren't SONAR related are Windows related.
    Good luck!

    do you have a webcam?

what things do you have in your project?  there are 3rd party plugins which will cause crashes (I'd especially look at any free ones)
