Can't get Midi track to drive Akoustik Piano

I can't set the output of any midi tracks to Akoustik Piano.
I can do this with any other VST, but Akoustik Piano simply doens't show up in the list under midi track's OUT drop down menu.
Any ideas?

Another weird thing is I can press keys on the keyboard and hear playback using Akoustik Piano standalone, but I don't hear any playback when I try this inside SONAR. I double checked to make sure that samples are loaded too.

I'm assuming you were first able to insert Akoustik Piano as a soft synth?

Your system spec would help. Could this be a 64 bit issue?

Native Instruments now recommend that Akoustik Piano is used with the latest Kontakt 4 player rather than the old player, which is no longer supported by them.

    Win7 U 64bit, but I'm using 32bit version of Sonar.
I was able to load the VST and the samples.
So I should try the kontakt 4 player?

I don't fully understand why you have a problem, the smoking gun would have been a 64/32 bit bridging issue but if you are using Sonar 32 that's less likley.

I have never used Akoustic piano, but i do know that the recommendation to use Kontakt player is made on the NI forums when issues with Akoustic piano and other legasy applications crop up. Apart from the bandwidth to down load it and disk space you have nothing to loose.

I use Akoustik Piano and don't load it via the Kontakt Player, though I have that installed. So long as it shows up in the list of soft synths, it SHOULD load up, but you may need to configure the plugin (using the plugin manager console) to a simple instrument track, then in track properties for that track, make sure that you have a MIDI input channel <or omni> and output to Acoustik Piano out and THEN make sure that output goes to a bus that is active! Or a track that is active.
I am on WinXP 64 but use Sonar X1 32 bit for broader compatibility, so your setup should work. There is also a MIDI preferences setup section within the Acoustik Piano console itself which you may need to configure to use ASIO or whatever drivers you are using in X1. Good luck!

When one is doing the process of self-analysis, One should make sure that the Self that is doing the analysis is, in fact, sane.
