Some useful tools...

I came across this page whilst looking for a decent midi loopback solution for Windows 7.

http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/Software.html

loopMidi was of most interest to me and works really well on a 64 bit system as well as a 32 bit one.  You can create (and delete) midi ports on the fly without having to reboot.  Seems to be really well written and stable.

There's other good stuff up there as well that may well be useful to the folks here.

Recommended.

Not sure what's meant by MIDI loopback.  Is that the same thing as a virtual MIDI cable ... something that has come up for discussion here from time to time?

This looks like a potentially valuable resource, by the way.  Thanks for sharing.

    Yes it is.

Note the dev here, Hubi a very old pre-WDM one and Midi Yoke have all I believe referred to these things as midi 'loopback' devices, it's not my personally chosen nomenclature.

Loopback device or virtual cable I can say that this one seems to knock spots off anything previously seen.

I'm just sad I found it exactly a day after spending £16 on LoopBe30 as I'd have rather have sent that to Tobias as a donation.

    Hence the heads up.
