Small Complaint/Suggestion -- PRV resets controller lane height when changing instruments

Maybe it is possible to find a way around this, but I haven't found it yet.

Because I'm doing orchestral music, I have to do a lot of controller editing in PRV view (about 100 tracks of instruments). Say I'm working with Violins 1, and I have the PRV open with the track list -- so Violins 1 is listed. Now, if I want to add more tracks to this list, I press shortcut "T" and I can choose which tracks I want to appear in the PRV. But when I do this, all the controller lane heights are reset to their default and I have to drag them up to a decent/workable size again. I usually have around 4 controller lanes open (CC1, CC11, CC83, and Velocity)

Not a huge thing, but I sure waste a lot of time dragging screen heights around.

Is there a way to make the controller lane heights permanent and not reset themselves? Or maybe a way to change their default height to something useable, so if it does change everytime, I don't have to drag the notes window upwards just to draw data?

Thanks,
Mahlon

I don't do a lot of controller pane work, but I do some.  but i've never seen the behavior you're describing.  which version of sonar are you using and which operating system?

Thanks for your help. I'm using 8.3 on Windows 7 64 Pro.

I may not have been clear. This behavior happens when I pick tracks to display from the Tracks Menu -- not when I just select tracks in the Track List Pane. After I close the Tracks Menu, the PRV controller lanes (and thus the notes pane as well) are reset to default heights. Does this not happen with you?

I'll try to remember to check this tonight when I'm at home and see if I can reproduce what you're talking about.

Try this.... it works for me. In the PRV, adjust the size of the controller pane to where you want it. Then press c to hide it and press c to show it again. Now go through the tracks using T (or the Track Pick button). After I do this my controller pane stays at the size I set. If you close the PRV the pane size returns to the default size and you have to repeat the process.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Does this work for mulitple lanes? I'm not at Sonar right now, but I thought that the "C" shortcut opened just one controller pane with all controllers present in the track in that pane.

Yes, c shows/hides the controller pane. Below is an image of a track in one of my new projects. The image on the left is the controller pane at default size with two lanes visible. The middle image is after I made the pane bigger, then pressed c twice to make it a temporary default size. The image on the right is the same pane with only one lane visible. Using the PickTracks [T] button to scroll through the tracks the controller pane stay at my user defined size until I close the PRV.

Thanks for taking the time to make the screenshots. That looks like what I'm talking about wanting to accomplish. I will definitely try this when I get back to my workstation.

Chappel, you're a genius! That works perfectly and is what I've been looking to do for so long.

    Thanks a million!
