Puzzling Midi behaviour..

Anyone have any ideas as to why I would get midi note dropouts on a synth I am editing even when all the other synths are frozen? Seems to me that over a certain synth count, notes drop out on anything that's not frozen. A bit annoying to say the least..

In 8.x the randomly missing MIDI-notes are usually due to MIDI-preparation buffer ("MIDI buffer..prepare using 250 ms" or something like that). Doubling it usually helps.

Please see MIDI and VIs Dying: Work-Around

I think we are talking about the same problem, and there have been a number of threads on this topic so you are not alone.  I agree that upping the buffer from 250 ms to 700 ms will help--and that is documented in a recent Cakewalk bulletin.  You will see form the thread, though, that other things may be going on.

Suggestion: When this happens, try hitting the Panic button (the all notes off icon that looks like a MIDI plug on the Control Bar).

    Best of luck.
