Hardware control of soft synths ***SOLVED ***
Ok, I'm having another brain fart. I know I've done this before, but the method is completely eluding me at the moment. All I want to do is to control 2 virtual knobs on the Pentagon synth by using 2 knobs on my Yamaha AN1X I don't want to use the mouse for this because it's a long time period I want to adjust and is RSI inducing (I've tried it) I seem to remember in the past just clicking the ACT button but this doesn't seem to do anything apart from turn blue. I've also looked at "Assignable Controls" in the synth rack, but this doesn't help either. There is defitely no Midi problem, insomuchas the synth responds to the Yamaha keybaord - I can trigger notes all day long. So, anyone know what I need to do before I lose my marbles? Thanks in advance

I haven't messed with Pentagon recently, but can you right click over the knobs and choose MIDI learn and then touch the controller button you wish to use ?

maybe you set it up previously directly using CC's and not ACT in the past ? http://www.soundonsound.c...les/sonartech_0906.htm which you probably saw already the keyboard, can you change the CC assignment of the dials, maybe you did that in the past? just a thought and you went into ACT if you used that ? set up the surface and turned the dial to make it work.. also is there different preset modes for the keyboard, if my ozone wasn't set to preset 5 as per ACT, it'd not work as should.

@Deisel: you might be onto something there. Strsnge thing is, when I right-click ANY of the Pentagon's controls, all I get is the program listing for the current bank. No Midi options I have checked both Z3ta & Dim Pro and as expected, right-clicking reveals the Midi Learn option. Sounds like there's something wrong with my Pentagon, or there's a setting somewhere that needs adjusting. @Fog - I certainly don't remember getting that involved with CC's in the past - it was as simple as described above - right-click, select Learn and twiddle the knob on the keyboard. Thanks lads for your suggestions - I'll keep digging
