automation snapshot refuses to take shot
I have a track with a snapshot at measure 12. I want to raise the volume at measure 18 with another snapshot. But when I take the snapshot, the fader jumps back down to the volume set at measure 12. Huh?

So it seems that I have to leave the console view, go back to track view, turn on view envelopes, go find the pre-existing node at measure 18, and delete it, then redo the snapshot? That seems stupid. Why doesn't the node update when I over-write it?

ok, so I will "answer" my own question and move this thread back to the top. I have to DELETE the previously created volume node, and THEN do a new snapshot? Huh? I got this out of the user manual: Successive snapshots do not update envelope node values When taking multiple automation snapshots at the same Now time, new envelope nodes are created instead of updating any existing envelope nodes. To address this issue, undo the previous automation snapshot before performing a new snapshot. WTF? Why would I want to do this? And by what magical power am I to be bestowed where I actually REMEMBER [!} what I did last night with project #4. "Undo"? Surely you jest. Sorry, gals and guys, but the reason we have this forum is because idjiots like me who are stuck in their ways are having bit of a time. Under the auspices NOT devolved to me, I must request assistance in this matter.

I never did understand what 'snapshots' were for. still don't. Just guessin here, but maybe you're not getting any responses because no one else uses snapshots either.

Uh, you got a good mix because you recorded all the 'separate' pieces on 'separate' tracks cause there is no reason to restrict yourself to 40 or 60 or 80 stereo tracks. So you get to a vocal phrase with harmony so you take a snapshot at the beginning of the harmony run with 2 main vocals, 2 3rd's vocals and 2 5ths vocals set full left and right ... and you 'snapshot' that beginning condition so that the effect of the harmony is maximized through that phrase. Bueno?

If i understand you correctly all you need to do is Rt click & enter the volume in the dialog box or left click on the node itself & drag it to desired volume.

You can do that from Console View?

For nodes or automation that are done using the console i.e. buses, open the Bus pane & edit, change them there. For tracks use track view

Bueno? Maybe I don't understand your language. However, I think just using envelopes and nodes would be easier.

I 'think' the idea of the snapshot is if your mix changes enough at a certain point, you can take the snapshot of all the changes, without creating all these envelopes, etc. Say you wanted 25 tracks to drastically change in a mix, and then back... you could 'snapshot' that change and make your changes in the console view.... like the do with the "big boy boards" in the "big boy studios".
