I need some help recording audio in Sonar 6....

I know MIDI/Soundfonts effects, settings, etc. up and down....
....like the back of my hand.

I'm trying to record some guitar and using Cakewalk's audio features and I'm completely lost.

Everything is only recording/playing out of the left speaker.  No matter how I try to pan, its just a left sided nightmare.  I've checked my volume control settings, and everything is balanced.

I just don't understand.  Please help.

To Op: Did you record stereo and only plugged the guitar in the left? Check the audio track that the guitar is on and see the waveform if it is double. If double it is stereo, but if it is supposed to be stereo and only the left is showing waveform then there you have it.

Try this, bounce the guitar clips to one clip, then right click the clip and select Convert to Mono then try the pan. Also check the Interleave button.

    HAHAHAHA!!!   I deserve that one.
Mastering audio and recording audio are two very different things.

I'm using the input jack on the front of the computer....  it audio selected "stereo" whenever I armed the recording.  I picked left and I no longer have the issue, but there are no longer two waveforms.  (stereo)

This is fine with me I guess.

    Thanks for the help.

After recording mono you can convert it to stereo afterwards by right clicking the clip and selecting convert to stereo, then you will see two waveforms. What kind of soundcard do you have? you might want to invest in a better one to make your recording easier.

The rule of thumb is: Mono source - Mono track. A guitar is a mono source, like a microphone.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
