FYI: Jon Anderson will be interviewed by Jim Ladd on KLOS-FM (95.5 in L.A.)
I believe it will take place on July 19th. I think it may be available on the web. I'll check.

Jan - I don't understand "win tickets to the broadcast?" if it's a "broadcast" then why do you need tickets? anyway - thanks for the headsup - I love JA. I don't understand all of the animosity between him and "the band" right now but I wish they'd kiss and make up.

Beagle Jan - I don't understand "win tickets to the broadcast?" if it's a "broadcast" then why do you need tickets? anyway - thanks for the headsup - I love JA. I don't understand all of the animosity between him and "the band" right now but I wish they'd kiss and make up. You're welcome on the headsup, Beagle. I'm a fan, too. They're going to broadcast from a local club and there will be an audience in the club--probably some VIPs and the winners of the tickets. Most people going for the tickets would probably need to be out here already--or have the trip planned and get lucky enough to go. I'm close enough where I'd normally be tempted to give it a shot. Unfortunately, bad timing prevents me from making that trip. Bapu might give it a shot. I'm with you on the animosity. I hope they can resolve it. Even if they never play together again, they should patch things up while they still have the chance. Hey, if Roger Waters and PF can do it, why can't these guys? Make no mistake--I'd prefer that they play together again. But that's just me. Let's allow them to resolve their larger issues first.

agreed!!! I saw them last year with Benoit. he's OK, but even with Yes he's still a "cover band" singer. he's not the lead man.

The last time I saw them was the 35th Anniversary Tour before the problems started. I've only seen Benoit on video and I agree with you--but he's only been at it with Yes for a short while. He may be able to grow into the role of a band leader--I just don't think he or almost anyone else can lead Yes since they've been at it for 40 years! They're probably not going to take orders from someone who wasn't born when they first started the band. I think they might even have a hard time letting someone like Roger Daltrey lead the band. At least he has the experience and the personality to ruffle some feathers and get things done--or walk away from the whole thing.

technically, Squire should be the "leader" since he's actually the "owner" of the band and actually in the show I saw he WAS the leader. but I think a band can have both a leader and a "front man" who are not the same if they know their roles. you're right, tho, that he (Benoit) might "grow into it" after a few more years of experience. he just seemed "awkward" at the "front man" position, tho. all of the "awe" was in the presence of Squire and Howe (especially Howe - the audience LOVED him!).

They'll patch things up when touring without Jon becomes unprofitable. Sorry to say that, but it's true. In the meantime, I'm interested to see how the new Yes album (coming out next week) will be.

Very true about Squire and the leader/frontman situation. Squire has probably been there the longest without actually jumping ship--that I know of. No surprise about Howe--he just seems to hang back and let his guitar do the talking. No fuss, no muss, and no drama--other than in the music.

In the meantime, I'm interested to see how the new Yes album (coming out next week) will be. Could be. At their ages, it may not matter. I thought I heard some talk of some of them wanting to retire when JA's and AW's health problems first came up. Mostly, it speculation on my part. I hadn't heard about a new album. Thanks for letting us know about that. I'm curious now, too. I'll see if I can find some more info on that.

I hadn't heard about the new ablum, either, thanks for the heads up on that. interesting that Trevor Horn is producing it! Geoff Downes has been their keys player ever since Oliver Wakeman left (OW was with them when I saw them. he sucked, IMO).

Here's some of the same info about the interview, but it looks like it has a link for the interview: http://jonanderson.com/news.html Going by the 30-second clips from Amazon, the new Yes sounds promising. If only Jon was on there. Sounded like some nice guitar by Steve and a few interesting keyboard runs. I hope to hear a little more of this one before I throw some money at it, but I'm leaning towards buying it. There's also a Jon Anderson/Rick Wakeman album that's been out for a while called Tree Of Life. I found it on Amazon. It's just Jon with Rick on the piano. I'm only going by the 30-second clips, but many of the songs sounded very similar to me. Even when one song ended and another started, it almost sounded like the first song. I'll reserve judgement until I hear more, but I like a little more variety than I've heard so far on this album. I sure hope that there is more to it than I've heard so far.

And if you didn't know, the title suite "Fly From Here" is based on a Drama era track "And We Can Fly From Here" that didn't make it on the Drama album but was played live at the time, (and may be available on some boots as well, but I don't remember).
