Imported Screensets are different form the source file Screensets

I thought the point of Screensets was a repeatable way to have everything in the same place.  I spent a lot of time setting up a template file but when I import them to another file most of them are totally messed up.  In one Screenset I had the File Info window open - its not open.  I have a view with the track strips very wide and anther with the clips very wide and another with the Pro Channel floating on the left. None of the import looking anything like this.  Is this by design?  If his is true, unlike 8.5 layout views, I have to re arrange all my windows for each file?!!!  What's the point?

There used to be some issues with floating windows when X1 was first released but I can't say I've noticed any problems since X1b.

It's worth checking that when you made the changes to the initial file the screenset wasn't locked - that will definitely affect how they behave.

The source Screensets were locked but not in the destination file.

What I meant was were the screensets locked after you'd set them up and saved the template or before?

If you made changes and then saved it but with screensets locked the changes to the screensets won't be saved.

One of my few moans about X1 is that there is no easily visible indicator as to whether a SS is locked or not.

In the template the Screensets were set up and then locked and then the file was saved.

Ok. May be worth trying them unlocked and then importing, perhaps that creates issues. I assume you are running the latest update?

I don't often use floating windows in my SS but I certainly don't get problems with track header widths, etc.

I have noticed that if importing from an already open file that have had screensets changed while open, the file needs to be saved first. Suggesting that the screensets are read from the disk file rather than memory. I doubt that is your problem though. Sorry I can't help more.

Thanks for your help.  It seems to work on some target files and not others.  I'll keep playing with it.

yesterday in a session the screensets went mad. lost the mixer view, others had strange graphical bugs.

    had to relaod the project.

there are definitely still bugs in screensets.
