X1 Producer 32 bit (Win 7): No sound through Saffire 6 USB

Hi folks,

I have 32 bit Sonar X1b build 255 running on Windows 7.
I just purchased a Saffire 6 USB interface, and I when I try to play back anything in Sonar, I'm not hearing anything.
I installed the latest driver (1.9.128.0), and I see the ASIO drivers under Edit --> Preferences --> Devices.
I hear the Windows sounds through the headphones on the Saffire, so I assume it's working, but when I play back any audio through Sonar, I don't hear anything.

I don't know if this means anything, but when I open Toontrack Solo 32 and set the Audio Driver to the Focusrite ASIO driver, I get an error that says "Failed to load audio device"
I get the same error when I try to load the Windows DirectSound driver In Toontrack solo.
I can, however,  hear sound (in Toontrack Solo) through the MME driver.

Has anyone run across this problem?  Is there something I'm overlooking?

Thanks!
Jonathan

the unit itself..  the green light for USB is on ? also OP3-4 light is on and button is pressed in for that?

    within sonar >

in preferences/audio/devices you see the unit listed for input output BUT for output , 2 boxes.. both sets ticked?

and other brand things unticked , e.,g. realtec etc?

    "apply" that

go down to the playback /record tab.. switch that to asio

if you get issues with sound etc, go driver settings tab..

"asio panel" button and adjust as you need.

    generally :

when you installed, you using the web drivers AND install it without the unit plugged in / reboot and it'll "find device"

with other soundcards enabled..= you can't select asio.

in windows control panel.. I'd leave your system soundcard as "default soundcard" and not the focusrite.. but thats up to you.

I have the same unit, works great.. far better than the m-audio ozone it replaced.

    Hi.  Thanks for responding.
I think some of your message was deleted, so I can't read all your tips.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

I was brief / concise.. if you go thru the steps it'll work without issue.

the only other thing I can think is the monitor dial on it, you have tried turning that with music playing ?

the only thing I can think it is, besides not being in asio mode..

the mixer and monitor dials on the front of the unit

The WDM/KS driver seems to be working correctly, so we can definitely rule out the physical settings on the device (buttons, knobs, etc.) .
This seems to be a software issue with the ASIO driver.
I'm curious if anyone else here is using the same combination of software with this device (32 bit sonar on Windows 7).
I created a help ticket with Focusrite, but if you can think of anything else, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

this is how my pref's are.. and the unit works.

on the unit. mixer dial.. turn it all the way right.. obv turn up the monitor one next to it

o/p 3-4 turn off the button, if using headphones..

notice no other card is ticked besides the saffire in the settings. I think it might be the 3/4 setting though, that tripped me up at one point ages ago.

or you can just select output 1 and 2 ..

in sonar, press "asio panel" button.. the focusrite thing appears ? change that to 256 samples also.

Thanks for taking the time to provide those screenshots :)

Unfortunately, I have tried those exact settings to no avail.
Which version of Sonar are you using (32 bit or 64)?

    Thanks,

both and in win 7 64..

in windows control panel, what soundcard is set as default? perhaps set it as your motherboard one IF it's set for the saffire.

other than that.. re-install the focusrite drivers without the unit plugged in. run / install as administrator perhaps

    reboot with it plugged in.
