question on Sonar x1 studio or Producer version ?
I just received in the mail from CakeWalk my special offer to upgrade to Sonar x1 Studio for $49.00 or Producer for $ 99.00 . Here is where I stand now with my computer , I'm running Windows XP 32 bit not 64 bit . Will Sonar x1 either version run on 32 bit Windows XP ? I don't see 32 bit listed , theres no reason to buy it if my Windows XP 32 bit will not work with Sonar X1 Studio or Producer . Any comments on this ? Radio

Beagle yes, it will work on winxp 32bit - either version. Thanks , now I have to decide which version do I want to buy . I'll most likey go with the Producer X1 , after I buy it I'll have to wait untill my new computer is built before I can run it and that might be another three months hopefully sooner . Right now I need to buy new memory and a new hard drive , my new AMD Motherboard and Processor , case and powere supply I have already sitting in their boxes . This computer I'm on now I know isn't going to make it run smoothly so I won't even try once I buy Sonar X1 , that will have to wait untill my new rig is built . Anyway thanks for the information Beagle , by the way are you using Sonar X1 now or something else ? Radio

Beagle I am using X1 Producer on an i5 2500K system with 8G DDR3 RAM running Windows 7 64bit. My computer is a Intel 3.0 GHZ , 2.98 of ram memory with Windows XP Home Edition 32 bit installed but I do have Windows XP Professional 32 bit if I wanted to use it . My last reinstall of windows I decided not to install Windows XP professional in this old computer I'm on right now thinking I would be using it in this new computer build . I also building my wife the same computer so for me right now its like paying double on computer parts and thats why my computer build has taken me almost a year to build . I'm not going to sweat over it atlease I'll have Sonar X1 available to install when my new computer is ready hopefully in the next two or three months . I did download the trial version of Sonar X1 and I was thinking about installing it to see if it would even run on this rig I'm running now . It might run but from looking at their requirements I'm thinking it might do a nose dive on me after I start recording something to see how it runs on this system . Radio

windows xp home vs windows xp professional will offer no differences as far as your system is concerned, especially with sonar. either will work fine. X1 has higher minimum specifications than S8 or S8.5 but unless you are running processor heavy plugins and softsynths then you won't really notice a difference. however the more plugins and/or softsynths you run or the ones that use a lot of processing power, the more problems you might have. you might end up having to change your "mixing latency" so that the buffers are higher for mixing with X1 than you did with S8 or S8.5. what soundcard are you using? that's more important than the computer minimum requirements for any computer that already runs S8 or S8.5 well.

Sorry Beagle for the slow reply back , My soundcard is called ( Creative Professional E-MU 0404 . Its not too bad but not a top end soundcard thats for sure , I paid I think $130.00 for it years ago .
