Sonar needs.....

a great sounding percussion kit softsynth....something to complement Session Drummer.
...with at least 8 stereo or 16 mono outputs
...instruments assignable to at least 8 midi channels

...with a mixer UI....effects insert slots....

...with the option to load our own percussion samples....

...etc., etc.

...the bakes can call it "Percussion Perks!"

Right now...the only available percussion kit in Sonar is the one that comes with TTS-1......and that's several years old...

I don't understand. What's wrong with SD3? And if it doesn't have enough features why would you suggest they make a new one rather than upgrade it? Perhaps there's a type of percussion synth that I don't know about?

Just load your own samples into SD3. It already has almost all of the features you listed. You can always add FX per instrument/drum on your individual Mono or Stereo outs.

Session Drummer 3 has only 12 slots. And there ist no way to load a hihat with 2 ore more samples (closed, open). I hope there will be a SD4 in future with more then only 12 slots, where we can load a hihat with 2 ore more waves.

I too would like some changes to SD3. No complaints about the sounds, I just don't like using the little 4 trigger pad to fill out the kit. It would be nice to add cymbals or toms to a kit and insert them where you want them. I'm wondering if the fancy graphical interface is the reason I can't have a little more freedom..

I can't afford to buy a drum package, so SD3 is it for now. I've purchased some sound packs and they're great, but if it could give just a little more flexibility I'd be very happy.

It may not have enough slots, but then I would get around this by just creating another instance on another track.

Also, SD2 (and probably SD3 as well) take an SFZ file.  In the SFZ you can have more than one WAV file.

I may be wrong, but does SD3 come with timbales, and / or conga samples?

In the mean time... There's a lot of free options out there, like Sampletank Free, Kontakt Player, Independence, all of which come with percussions (if I remember correctly).

More than yet another drum/percussion plug-in, I've always wished that Cakewalk would bundle a (simple) sampler with Sonar. Not something that would compete with Kontakt, but something more like with Logic's EXS24 - something light and flexible which integrates with the application, making it easy to create your won instruments. Never quite understood why they didn't recycle the one in P5. Or at least made it available as an add-on.

They actually do, apart from the effects slot and I don't really know of any drum synth/sampler that does but Project 5 had two, the Velocity drum machine, which is excellent, it came with a heap of sample kits and you could load your own as well.  It has a pitch envolope generator and a few other bits and peices and multi-out.  I think the only drawback was the samples that were loaded into it could only be 16bit (if I am wrong please correct me) and it was a little buggy but I think they fixed that as well.

They also had the N-Pulse kit as well, which was an 808 emulation and I can't fault it, I have used a few times in particuar for the kik's.

I don't know if Sonar allows you to buy these instruments or if they are even still avalible, it is a shame that more of Project 5's instruments have not been ported over to Sonar.

    ^YES!

Velocity was awesome. I always wished that SONAR would get Velocity 2 rather than SD3.

As for a sampler, well there's DropZone, but I suppose that's probably not what you're looking for.

The fact that it wasn't all that good may have had something to do with it.  SFZ, which  is included in Sonar, is easier to use and sounds better.

Velocity was OK.  It still has a few bugs in it.

I don't think it was actually an  808 emulation.  It has a lot of  features such  as RM and FM that  the 808's did not.  It has a different sound to it, which I did not initially like much.

I don't know if Sonar allows you to buy these instruments or if they are even still available, it is a shame that more of Project 5's instruments have not been ported over to Sonar.
The only P5 synths that haven't been ported over are DS864, nPulse, and Velocity.  Dimension beats DS864 by a long way.  The other two were contracted out to other developers (Muon and fXpansion, respectively).  I don't know if any copyright or other legal issues might stand in the way of rewriting them as 64 bit plugins.

Dimension Pro, Roland Groove Synth and Beatscape all have percussions. I wish Dim Pro and Groove were multi out though... There are also percussions in the loop content that is easily split up to be played in RXP or Beatscape.

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

Totally agree! A multi-timbral DimPro would be awesome.
