How do I make the Reggae rim shot?

I have BFD2 and there are plenty of rim articulations but they tend to be rocky.

I'm looking for that Reggae rim shot, it's got a huge 'tonk' to it but I don't think it involves the skin of the snare(?)

What sort of treatment would I need to apply?

Thanks - rev

Aren't rimshot mapped to C# on gm midi mappings. I don't know what BFD uses.

Otherwise try C# on Session Drummer or TTS-1 synth even.

No problem finding them in the program, mapping etc not an issue - but they don't sound like Reggae, they sound like rock.

If using SD#, download a reggae sounding rim shot and edit the kit file to use the rimshot audio you downloaded. The file is in the Session drummer folder then just load it in SD#. To edit the file go to the filestructure of the SD3-files and take a look at the sfz-files. You can edit this files by notepad.
Copy and manipulate one of the sfz-Defination-file (*.sfz) by hand.
This sfz-file includes all parameters. You can insert any wav-file in this parameters for a multiple instrument like hihat. You must edit and insert this parameters by hand. Unless you only use the rim shot for the snare and not some other kind of hit, just drag and drop the reggae rimshot you downloaded over the SD# snare icon.

    Hope this helps

    Overlay a timbale sample.

Yes that's not a snare.. it's a Timbale. Reggae drummers have them to the side or the band has a percussionist.
