The Pond

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25sC3_uheyA

In 2006 we visited a Japanese garden. In September of 2009 I wrote this piano piece in 17 ET and I hear a connection between the two. I hope you enjoy. This is a side of microtonal composition that I think most people do not think of when they hear "microtonal". The goal here was to be peaceful and consonant = much like the garden we visited.

Very relaxing. I like it. And the visuals work well with it as well. My chi increased noticeably :-) What makes this micro-tonal actually?

I use 17 notes per octave tuning instead of twelve notes per octave.

    Here is 12

    ! C:\Cakewalk\scales\12edo.scl
    !
12edo  (the values are in "cents")
     12
    !

     200.00000
     300.00000

     900.00000
     1000.00000

Very peaceful and delicate.  Beautiful music.  I can see the same kind of pictures with my eyes closed listening.

I like this smooth and relaxing pice you did with your video , to be honest with you the video was ok but sort on the fuzzy side and that sort turned me off but I see where you were going with the video trying to capture those relaxing moments in time  .

    Nice song ! Radio

thanks for the listen and comment radio

we had an inexpensive digital camera on that vacation trip. I did what I could with what I had.
nonetheless it was a nice visit - I'm glad I made the video to remind me of it.
