thinking about getting a Rode mic

hey there,

Any users on here recommend the Rode NT1-A or NT1000 mics? They seem pretty good and have some good reviews. Also considered the MXL 3000 at one point, but concerned about quality...

Do you really need to adjust EQ a lot on the high end?... read the mics produce a bit much on the high end.

Anyone get their Rode mic modified or know how to do this well with better components(if it's not too hard to do)? Saw online there's places you can get them modified with better/higher quality components. Sounds interesting. Especially for those of us on a low budget...
