SD3 Expansion Pks. on SD2?

I'm gonna try this question again. Will SD3 packs play alright on SD2? I'm assuming they will but I don't want to spend the coin if all I can do is stare at the damn thing. It's gonna be awhile before I attempt X1... if I attempt it at all.

I don't know for certain but I wouldn't spend money on it myself unless I had plans to get SD3 in the future.

The webpages, both Cakewaly and DSF quite clearly state they are for Session Drummer 3. There is not a single mention of SD2. I am sure if they were compatable with Session Drummer 2 this would be stated, they would be loosing sales by not mentioning it.

I don't know for certain but I think there is very little chance they would work in SD 2, they probably need the more advanced features of Session Drummer 3.

That's a bit of a bummer. I wanted the Neil Peart drums but I guess I'll have to wait. The only SD2 pack I could find in the Cake store was the Hip Hop pack... not my style at all. What about ToonTrack? Can I still get SD2 compatible packs through them? I guess I'll surf on over to their site and have a looksee. Thank you both for the replies.

Edit: I found the smartloops site so I'm good to go. I noticed all their loops and kits are compatible with both SD2 & SD3 with the standard Cakewalk midi groove file. Got me to thinking unless the SD3 packs are in a new format... well, I might just snag the Neil Peart drums anyway and try it for the hell of it... would be an interesting experiment.

MIDI loops of any kind should be compatible with ANY drum softtsynth, but not the kit sounds.  even if they're not GM mapped you can always remap them in sonar using a drum map.  just FYI.

What about getting the Neil Peart drums for Kontakt / Infinity player? A complimentary infinity player license is included, which means you will be able to use it in the free Kontakt Player. http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=4432

And it on less than half price sale at the moment. Why did I look this up?  GAS is kicking in again - I must resist,  I must resist,  I must resist
