Looping with Melodyne

At present the Melodyne plugin playback does not follow Sonar when Sonar is set to loop.

It would be useful if it did. Would this be a feature request or a bug report?

I believe it is possible in other DAWs- could anyone confirm this?

Has anyone found any workarounds?

    This has always been a problem with Melodyne and Sonar as far as i know. Many (including myself) have mentioned on the Melodyne site. I know of no workaround, I'm just waiting...

    I just keep replaying from the same position. I know others export it to the standalone version but then you don't get it playing in the context of your track.

    Melodyne is an awesome piece of gear so I tend to just put up with it for now.

    I suppose it's not too bad as long as you have set 'On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker'.

    I've also got the Melodyne scrub tool to work by inserting Melodyne as a Track effect rather than a Clip effect.

    I would like to have the simple "LOOP function" to work correctly without any dropouts in other areas too in SONAR.
    I can't understand why latency compensation and VST-I and VST FX in SONAR during LOOPING still doesn't work correctly?
    Out of Sync and dropouts? It work perfect in other DAWs like Cubase. LOGIC and so forth...?

    You should have Melodyne Editor inserted  as a "Track FX", and work with it in that way. Inserted as first instance in the-----> "FXs bin" not as a "Clip Insert". But I'm sure it works as a "Clip Insert" too though.

    I noticed from Melodyne's 'Using With Sonar' guide on their web site that they mention you can't use looping.  So it looks like they regard as not an issue with Melodyne, just something you need to avoid.... 
     
    I have dreadful trouble with Melodyne Editor in Sonar X1.  It freezes after about five minutes and then crashes Sonar and only a complete reboot will enable Sonar to reload.  So I have to chop things up into small bits and work on them quickly one at a time, then delete Melodyne Editor, save project, reload Melodyne Editor, and so on....  This happens nomatter what my samples/latency is set at, or any other variables, and my high-end system shows no signs of memory or disk stress.  It's as if there's a memory leak or whatever that causes something to accumulate or loop until after five minutes the VST gives up and terminally clogs Sonar.  I've had no useful suggestions on the Melodyne forum.  They have an attitude that regards their product as absolutely fine and if there's any problem it's with your host.

    I haven't used Melodyne Editor, nor X1, but my experiences with Melodyne Plugin & Sonar Producer and all that I've read about pitch correction plugins on this forum (and elsewhere) can be concentrated as:

    Pitch correction plugins don't like to be pushed, nor do they like being left active in the project.
    They are extremely sensitive, they don't even like commands coming too quickly after eachother. Use Melodyne for portions so small, that you can bounce the edited part to audio and remove Melodyne from the project before closing it.

    SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    That is how I use it.  I transfer and make my edits and then later on I do a DIGITAL MIXDOWN as a AUDIO to a new AUDIO track.
    Then I disable the MELODYNE Plugin on the "Previous EDIT" track and Achieve and then hide it.

    I've been watching Melodyne for some time now hoping to pick up the Editor version for its DNA features, but it looks like it is STILL not ready for prime time Sonar!

    I have had no trouble with Melodyne in Sonar X1 64 bit.  I am running the most up to date version of 64 bit Melodyne and despite all the other crashes and issues I've had, Melodyne appears to be rock solid stable!  I can even leave multiple instances of it running without bouncing the tracks its effecting without any trouble! 
     
    Looping doesn't work, but otherwise it is great!

    Totally concur with above.  One thing that may be helpful is increasing your playback buffers to 1024.
    I had that with record at 512 and it worked flawlessly except as above.  I hadn't used it for sometime for reasons indicated in other replies but with the newest update those problems seemed to have been resolved.  I could do an entire track on a 5 min song of acc. guitar and it did the conversion much more rapidly than originally occurred. Is very usable now.

    ? Melodyne Editor x64 and SONAR X1 x64. Working without any crashes here.. Use it daily in my work.
