Satan is in my system... HELP!!!

I was recording this weekend.... 6 tracks... playback seemed normal...  I inserted an FX-chain preset that I had saved from another session into the vocal track.  Started playback again... VOCALS DISAPPEARED...

I stopped playback and RTZ....

Then HE entered into my computer and started singing ever sooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooooooowly.  SATAN was singing in my computer ultra slow like and really deep-voiced (considering that the vocal was of a girl). AND it took a few moments to shut him up.

Has anyone else run into that problem... I'm using X1b???

Through the night, he did it several times... I thought one of the guys was messing with his mic but I had everyone in the room with me at one point...  Why would singing continue beyond me pushing STOP?

What was in the effects chain? Sounds like you've got a plug in problem.

Carrying on after pressing stop I would bet heavily on being a result of you having "Play effect tails when stopping" checked in Preferences. Which is normally fine, but is vulnerable to plug ins doing freaky things.

I had my usual run of Sonitus FX... I use GATE, Compressor, Delay, And Reverb for vocals... I like sonitus fx a little bit more than the -64 plugins...

John, what will unchecking the "play effect tails when stopping" do for my sound in terms of final mix do?  I will check that when I get home...

The weird thing is I have never had this happen before... this is some of the stuff I use over and over.  Could this be a situation where I need to re-install the patch?

Where did the FX Chain originate from?

Was the other "session" ( I'm referring to another .cwp "project" rather than a Pro Tools "session" ) using a different sample rate?

The FX preset was from another recording session from Sonar X1b.  Two months ago, I zeroed in on a sound I like on vocals and saved it as an FX preset.  I usually drag it from the browser window and drop it into FX.  I keep my sample rates, sound card sample rates same at all times.

Is it only happening on one track?

I don't see anything in your FX chain that might slow the timing... and it's hard to imagine that a sample rate problem would effect a single track.

Well, there is one thing... the Sonitus delay is tempo aware... so maybe Sonitus Delay is confused and it thinks it's inserted in a project with one BPM whereas you have placed it a project with another BPM.

In other words... maybe the original BPM of the project where the FX Chain originated from is "stuck" in Sonitus Delay.

It's a long shot. The fact that you hear sound after stopping may be related to "play tails". I would not have thought play tails has anything to do with it... except for the fact the Sonitus Delay is indeed tempo aware AND Sonitus Delay is one of the small subset of efx that actually has a "tail" to be played.

The idea that you may be observing a single track with clocking problems caught my attention and has piqued my curiosity.

    Good Luck!

    best regards,
    mike

    Konradh... funny

Bristol... if you knew the backwoods place I lived in deep within the Bible Belt in the US, you would realize that I think you're comment is more hilarious than you may realize.

It is weird.  I stopped playback we decided to do another vocal take before moving on, I started trying to add a track and my system was frozen and Satan began singing... he got a few bars of vocals out before he stopped.  I hit PDC button at top, that did not affect it.  The way I got it to stop was "delete" fx chain preset.  Then insert each effect individually. then reset each setting.... I thought the whole idea of saving presets was to save time and energy from repetitive tasks?  So far this is not helping me.  Maybe it's a Sonitus quirk... but I've used sonitus since Sonar 6, i think?

I think it's because you are running a Dell. Satan and Dell are very close.

This happened in that movie Trick Or Treat with Ozzy and Gene Simmon's. It didn't turn out good man.

    Hey Travis,

Copy the EFX from the Chain straight into the EFX bin.
    Does that eliminate the problem?
