Setting midi track input/output to none?

I'm currently using Sonar 7 and can not set a midi track input to none. Even though none shows checked in drop down list, it defaults to omni. Also, none is not an option for midi track output. Therefore, any in midi data on any port gets sent to output when track is selected.

This doesn't seem right. Reason for posting in this forum, I was wondering if this is still the behavior in X1 or if it works correctly?

Hi, WDI - What's the scenario for when you don't want a MIDI track to have any input or output--?  I'm not picturing the situation when that's needed.

I believe the problem was corrected in the last or second last update.  It is functioning correctly now with build 255.

Thanks lorneyb2. Thought that was one of the recent fixes.

rbowser... Well I seemed to have found one. Basically I'm using Sonar to sync SMPTE/MTC and Midi Sync gear and act as a MCC for all the gear. I really didn't even need a midi track other then to add a note at end of timeline to get Sonar to play. I could just have easily added an audio track to accomplish the same thing. But while troulble shooting I noticed the midi track was registering midi data and was unable to assign none to input even though it's an option. I guess the output thing makes sense. But not being able to select none as input, or rather giving the option and then assigning omni for all midi inputs on system is a huge problem.

From the X1 manual section: To choose a MIDI input in the Track view
None. This option actually sets the Input field to Omni with this setting the track will record any MIDI input coming in on any enabled port (MIDI interface input driver) on any channel.

Disabling the Always Echo Current MIDI Track option in Preferences > MIDI - Playback and Recording gives you more control over which tracks get echoed to your MIDI outputs.

Thanks bvideo! Still think none should be none. But anyways...
