Exporting mono tracks as stereo

I hope that I explain this well.

I am exporting raw tracks (preset in X1).  In the Export dialog window, there is an option for Stereo, Mono or Dual Mono.  The project I am exporting has both stereo tracks and mono tracks.  But the option in the Export dialog window overrides that and exports every track as either Stereo, Mono or Dual Mono.

To handle this problem, I have been exporting all tracks as stereo and then using Sound Forge to convert the mono tracks from stereo to mono.

Is there a way to have Sonar export tracks as they are in the project (some stereo and some mono)?

Thanks

Tom

If I'm reading you correctly, and that is you're trying to export individual tracks and not a mixdown yes? Then you have no choice but to export them one at a time, setting the options accordingly for each track.

Can I ask why you want to do this?

I am sending these raw tracks to another studio for them to finish the project.

It's an odd oversight that SONAR provides an option to preserve interleave when importing files but not for exporting. Also odd that the Select menu, despite its plethora of options, does not have one that says "select all mono tracks". I guess nobody at CW has ever needed to do this.

Rather than using an external editor, would it not be less work to simply select all tracks, de-select the stereo tracks and then export all the mono tracks at once?

And don't you get a 3db volume increase when you convert to mono in SF?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
