I'm planning on a musically reclined weekend... kinda like when the Beach Boys recorded Amsterdam.

I hope you have some comfortable shoes.

    best,

The Beach boys are playing the local county fair about 10 miles from me this week. Is that not a sort of epitaph of a once great band? Sorry to share that.

At one time, that was the kiss of death.  I don't think that's automatically the case anymore.  There are a bunch of fairly well known bands playing the state/county fair circuit.  A bunch play the Indian casinos out here, too.  I don't think we can assume that all the bands are has-beens that should have retired years ago--although a few of them may well be has-beens.

Here's the line-up for the Orange County Fair:

I saw Blue Oyster Cult just a few years ago--not at the fair--and they were very good.  I also wouldn't call B.B. King washed up either--even though he's probably the oldest one on the list.  It seems like Blake Shelton is a pretty popular these days, too.  I'm not that big a fan of country music, so I can't say for sure.
