help with groove clip looping

why is that when i go to create a groove-clip loop out of an audio clip, it stretches the audio out of sync and time ?   This happens about 60-70% of the time. sometimes it works perfectly but i can't figure out what makes the difference.

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

    SONAR may not be analyzing the clip correctly. Double-click the clip to open it in the Loop Construction view. Then make sure the Beats In Clip parameter is set the correct number of beats.

    I think this happens when an audio clip is longer than 1 measure.  My fix was to enter the Beats In Clip value via the Channel Strip and then adjust the length of the clip with the Edit tool.
