Rewire question

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question as I'm not sure if it's a rewire issue.
When I insert Reason 5 via Sonars rewire it offers me a choice of either "One" stereo output, or "Sixty four" What if I only want four outputs? Do I seriously have to go and delete all the rest? Seems there should be a way of predetermining the number required before hand.

This drives me crazy as well.

What I do is just insert the single output. Then I manually add the number of audio tracks I need, and assign them manually. Far cleaner than creating 64 tracks and deleting most of them.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

why not just select the first unused track.. scroll down press shift + LMB... and delete.. or just make a track template with only the 32 ? there is a template on the props site for rewiring with all the routing done on it.

The only way that has made sense to me is to set up track or project templates in Sonar, I have various 8, 16, 32 etc channel setups to start from.  The Reason end is no better either and blank rewired projects are the way to go there also.

The Reason template on the Props site that Fog mentions has it's uses too although it's usually overkill for most scenarios it does illustrate your options clearly.

The other caveat is that it is a waste of time selecting any of the 'Stereo' ins in Sonar other than the first pair as they are all actually mono, so if you need anything but mono ins you have to hard pan a left and right channel pair into a bus or via a send.

Hopefully the updated Rewire from Props that is due will incorporate some improvements, Cakewalk are already aware of the Mono, 'Stereo' channels issue.

tbh I would be surprised if props did more than the bare minimum with upgrading it to 64 bit.. as much as they did a "compatibility" upgrade for recycle a year or 2 back.. they seem to do what's needed, nothing more, from past experience. moreso with OS x stuff, as it seems the new update will chuck a wobbly with some older programs / drivers
