Electri6ity for X1

Just bought Electri6ity (Vir2 instrument that uses Kontakt).  It has to be authorized with NI's Service Center.

In Windows, I went to the NI folder and clicked on Service Center. It continues to give me a message saying Service Center can't connect to the Internet.  I can go to NI's web site, etc. so my Internet connectivity is fine.

I thought about reinstalling Service Center, but when I download it from NI and try to install, it aborts because it says the version on my PC is newer.

I cannot use the product at all.  Thoughts?

Thanks.

PS So far in the NI/ Kontakt family I have bought Vir2 Acoustic Legends, Vir2 Electricity, Guitar Rig 4 Pro, and a Pedal Steel sample library.  There have been installation issues in every case and it is very difficult to get help from NI.

Just uninstall the version on your PC, then install and run the version you downloaded from NI.

NI doesn't really support Kontakt player - fuzzy-headed thinking IMO - and I've had a couple operational problems with Vir2
where I ended up listening to both of them saying it was the other company's issue.

I'd uninstall Service Center... then reinstall it. When you run it, it'll auto-update (this may take several passes to become current).
FWIW, I have Komplete 5,6, 7... and have not had any issues with Service Center.

A lot of the larger 3rd party libraries want to install the Kontakt Player.
If you have the full version of Kontakt, you don't need the Player.

Thanks, guys, but now two dumb questions:

1-How do I uninstall it other than just deleting the folder in Windows Explorer?  (I am running Windows 7).
2-When I uninstall, will I break the authorization for existing products?

Start - Control panel - Programs and features - scroll down to Native Instruments Service Center - highlight - on control bar, click uninstall.

You won't break authorizations - authorizations are recorded on NI's servers.

    There are no dumb questions.

    Thanks, peregrine.

When I was at TCU, I told a professor I had a dumb question. He said, "There are no dumb questions."  I asked my question and he said, "I stand corrected."

    Here's how I resolved this:

    - Opened Service Center and created an HTML file using OFFLINE ACTIVATION.
    - Instead of opening that file on a different computer as they suggest, I opened it on the same machine since I knew I had connectivity.
    - The file took me to NI's website where I activated the product.  it careated a "naf" file for me to import into Service Center.

A little bit of a goofy work-around, but it did work.

In other words, Service Center will let you create a request, take it to a different computer via USB stick, connect to the website, and then create a file to take back to the original machine via USB.  I essentially did that, but did it all on the same machine.
