Some people use the rca's to connect to the computers sound card depending on what connections you have.

you can use sub groups if you have them or better still alt outs which are designed for your sound card interface. I am looking for a mixer at the mo but have realised how important it is that the mixer has the right interface that correlates to the sound card that you have however they're ways around it but you may get some feed back if not connected correctly.

Did you go into Preferences and make sure you have the Mixers Inputs and Outputs seleceted for record/playback?  Have you downloaded the latest driver from Yamaha for it?
    http://www.yamahasynth.com/downloads/drivers_software/interfaces/mw/driver/

Hit "P", Preferences will come up.  In Audio>Devices you should see your Mixer listed.  Make sure the Input and Output for it IS checked.  Make sure it is powered on when you power up you computer so it will know it there and load it.

    Keep us posted
