In other news, a growing number of Californians are considering commuting on a daily basis to Texas for work.  One person we interviewed said, "Hey, it's still a shorter commute than trying to drive in on the 405!"

the DFW metroplex is growing astronomically.  we're constantly updating the infrastructure and by the time it's done it's already overloaded.

I used to work for a company with offices at Little Santa Monica and 405.  I work now for a company with offices behind the mall in Newport Beach.  You are not far off.

    Hah

I do think El Paso is closer to our Newport Beach office than to our Houston office.  However, having been to El Paso, I am not sure why anyone would voluntarily go there.

Beagle, ditto in Houston.  I think they could make I45 and I10 about 60 lanes each and they would still be packed.  Houston and DFW Metro both are what - 80 miles from east to west and similar north to south?  in 100 years, Houston and Dallas' borders will touch.

haha!  true that!  (warning:   complete tangent coming:)
I live in the southwest part of the DFW "metroplex" in southwest Ft. Worth.  I have a friend that lives in Rowlett which is on the north east end of the metroplex, northeast of Dallas.  it takes me an hour and 15 minutes to get to his house!  and he's "just on the other side of the DFW area!"

Hey!  I used to have an office in that area - small world.  I had a nice corner office on the 4th floor that overlooked the Big Canyon Country Club golf course (and all those $10+ million houses with no land).  If I smooshed my face against the side window I could see Catalina on the two days of the year that the air was clear enough to see more than 1/2 a mile...

We were there when then President Bush (Sr.) visited and stayed next door at the (then) Four Seasons hotel.  As we walked to Fashion Island for lunch we would wave to the Secret Service on the rooftops and they would wave back - pretty funny.

Here's a Google map of the area - where it says La Petite Cafe (yeah, that's how they actually spell it) is the building we were in.

I live in CA, I love CA. I moving from CA. Dark clouds ahead for this state. Even the weather can't make me stay anymore because, I like to eat and I'm tired of managing debt from year to year here.

    Sorry to hear that Middle.

I hope the best for you.

I'm not wealthy or even well off but I have no debt (to speak of) and so I'll be staying here for as long as I can.

About the only thing that could remotely make me consider leaving Southern CA is if my grand kids were to move more than a two hour flight away. Even then, my Lovely Lady would be the true decider on that one.
