why does it always say VST's incompatible?

I downloaded like 40 free Vst's and they all say incompatible when i try to load them. Am i missing something?  My cousin uses most of them in other programs and they work there.

give examples ? you scanned them / added them to an exsisting vst plugin folder ? or add a plugin path.. then rescan.. you'll see a new folder in your vst list .. also what type of VST's are they .. if they are fx, you might want to try accessing them via the fx bin.. it could be any number of reason e.g. the extra files supplied with the plugins being in the wrong place.

Could help if you bothered telling us what software you are using, and what are your computer specs.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Are you running the 32Bit or 64Bit version of Sonar?
If you're running the 64Bit version, and the plugins are 32Bit (likely if they're free), then they might not be compatible with BitBridge.

32Bit plugins have to be bridged to work in a 64Bit host DAW application.

Assuming this is the problem, you can try using jBridge (3rd party applet that bridges plugins)... or simply use different plugins.

FWIW, A handful of quality plugins is all you need... so I wouldn't get too hung up if these particular free plugins are problematic.

At the risk of stating the obvious... You did download the Windows versions of the VST's and not the Mac versions?

Sorry, didn't know it had so many things it  could be. It was installing them in the 64 bit folder......problem solved. Thanks for all the advice.
