Sonar to Pro Tools ... Terms translated???

Hi,
I currently use Sonar Producer 8.5, and have become fairly comfortable with it.. However (for reasons which I won't bore you all with) I have recently found myself in a position which has called for me to start using Pro Tools.. I have been watching Pro Tools 9 tutorials etc, but I was just wondering if anyone knows of somewhere on the net where I could find some sort of "Sonar/Pro Tools terms translation  list" ...

For example - What is the Pro Tools equivalent of...

V- Vocal
Synth Rack

etc etc

Just think it might speed the cross over process along..

Thanks

That's an interesting concept,, like an English -Spanish dictionary sort of thing. But my guess is you might be the first to invent it.
It's the reason we are all so reluctant to switch platforms, Every platform tries it's hardest to use different terms for the same action. I mess around with Cubase from time to time and what you are talking about is so true. It's like if every car manufacture called the headlights or windshield wipers something different and they changed the little icons just enough to make you guess which button to push.

Yea I would say there probably isn't anything out there like that... I might just take your advise and after I learn pro tools publish a little "Sonar to Pro Tools" translation leaflet... and make a million bucks!! hahaha : D

FYI, it's been a while but I don't think there's an actual synth rack in Pro Tools, neither was/is there anything like V Vocals - you'd probably have to use some 3rd party plug-in.

Pro Tools is pretty straightforward so it isn't all that hard to figure out. It's probably be more complex for someone to move from Pro Tools to Sonar. Maybe you could try to just play with it in your spare time and if you ever run into something which puzzles you, just google it.

Thanks for the info and advise Rain... That sounds like a plan! : ) By any chance would you know of a 3rd party "V-Vocal" equivalent that you might recommend?? I have been using V-Vocal a lot lately.. Not really for correction.. More for wacked out effect and timing stuff! : )

Melodyne is what you're looking for.

Actually not sure of the need for the synth rack...  what is the benefit I'm missing, if I can insert VSTi in other programs?  I guess a GUI that shows them all in one place??

I only use the synth rack in Sonar to remove a synth I'm no longer using because unfortunately when you remove a synth track in Track View it (the synth whose track is being deleted) still exists in the project.

There is no V-Vocal equivalent and no Synth Rack is needed.  You'd insert your synth on either an Aux track or an instrument track (your choice, results are the same).  Aux is pretty straightforward and intrument tracks are pretty much the same as in Sonar.
