Sonar 8.5/ m-audio oxygen 8 controller

Right- got it set up as a control surface for Sonar, but can't  play the soft synths via the keyboard; any suggestions/ help gratefully received. Thanks in advance :)

    Add a softsynth to the synthrack and then set the output of a MIDI track to the softsynth.

    Done that already Dave and still nothing- I can only assume that the settings in the Oxygen8 have somehow got a bit messed up by my random button pushing lol.

    It worked ok until I set it up as a control surface- sorry I should have provided a bit more info with my original question.
    Surely I don't have to disable it as a control surface before using it to play soft synths....or do I?

    you set it up as a control surface.. did you also go into the dialog box with the dials / values etc ? in that change the drop down to the oxygen 8.. you MIGHT need to switch it to a different preset also.. it's states what number in the if it's a v1... it's preset 5.. like my ozone was.... or v2 it's "factory" setting

    Is the MIDI icon showing activity?
    It might be the channel assignment.
    Record it to a MIDI track and open the event list see what's recording.

    Thanks guys will try these suggestions and get back to you- sure it must be something to do with the Oxygen8 as I'm getting no noises when I switch to my Virus B. (usb to int on the oxy) The virus B is showing midi activity on the display?
    I'm much better with guitars and valve amps lol...Mr Analog ;)

    Did a factory reset on the oxygen 8, set it back up as control surface and voila, it worketh again.
