Is Customizing colors: is it me or it's a real pain?

Finally decided to move from 8.5 to X1 even though don't really need it but since it
seems to be taylored to make the use of a single monitor easier I said what the heck.
 
It's always difficult to adjust to new GUI when you've used another approach for so long
but I'll get use to the new at some point....but....
 
God the default greyish (dark or lite) look is boring.
 
Ok in preferences there is a funcionality to tweak the different colors but my god the functionality
is tough and un-predictable:
 
1) In track mode: if you can change the foreground/background colors, click OK/Apply/Save and you
                            will see the change right away.
 
2) In the console: In order the see changes made to the foreground/backgroup colors of the channel
                             bus name, for example you have to clcik OK/Apply/Save/Close X1/re-open X1.
 
                             It's only at this point that you will see the changes you've made.
 
So,
 
Since the help file is useless is there a good tutorial or, even better, some custom settings kept
around that could be used.

That was one of the first OMG! postings shortly after the program came out in Dec.  I remember, because I was one of the people freaking about the color/lack of color in X1.  I started a thread politely asking, "May we please have some color back?"-- But as Skyline just now reported, being able to customize this incredibly boring, depressing looking GUI is very limited - There are quite a few elements which are image files that can't be customized. - I still can't imagine a panel of people at Cakewalk actually looking at this interface and Oking it. - Maybe it made them nostalgic for early computer programs which were bland and utilitarian looking?

I would like to know if anyone has any color preset files that I can import to try and change up the color scheme....anyone?

Well I mean just somebodies color imports for how they have clips and piano roll color customized in the properties window.  I don't want to do any hacking heh.

...But, like I mentionned in my post I think it will help make things less clumsy on single monitor system...

Mario, I'm not sure why you're thinking things will be less "clumsy" on a single monitor - Elements of the GUI are so large now, you really need two monitors and as huge a resolution as possible, more than the standard 1400 X 900.
