How Do I Get the Internal Sequencer From A Softsynth Into Sonar???

Hello,

I hope I made the question clear but here is my question.  I have a bunch of softsynths that have their own internal step sequencer (much like an ARP2600) where you can set many parameters for each step (pitch, tone, attack, distortion, etc..)

It runs on its own, i don't need to hit play in Sonar because the synth is playing internally a pattern I set up.  Now the question is... HOW on earth do I get this into Sonar???   I would love a midi trigger or something that will just play the 16 steps I have set up.   I don't want it running through the entire song.  Just for a a bar or 2 at various points in the song.  Is there anyway to trigger it or something?

If I just enter 16 notes in piano view I don't really get what I am looking for.  All the parameters on the internal step sequencer in the synth are gone.

I hope I made my question clear and I appreciate all replies!

Thank You,
Adam

That'll be down to the synth itself, not Sonar. You'll need to set up the synth internally somehow so that you can trigger the sequence from a MIDI note. The program that note into Sonar and hold it for as long as you want the seqeunce to play.

You'll just have to hit the help files and figure it out for each instrument. For instance, in BFD, which I use a lot, you can have loops in an autoplay mode, or a triggered mode.

thanks for your answer.  that makes sense.  Im using Reaktor Grooveboxes.  They sound so great, but i guess your right, I have to treat them like external synths really.   I just dont get what the point is of these synths if you can't get them into Sonar or any other DAW for that matter.

    Thanks!!!

What John T suggested is how I do it with my Arturia ARP and Moog Modular the one thing to remember with the ARP is to ensure that the note off not only stops the sequence but also resets it as well.

You just trigger it with a MIDI note.

What you need to discover is how to configure the step sequencer to b etriggered by that MIDI. ;-)
