Optical Media Factory Sounds?

My friend owns, & still uses, an Emulator 3 XP with external CD drive. Many of the audio sample CD's he uses have degraded - mainly due to his misuse I might add.
Anyway, he's tried other dedicated forums searching for help but as yet to no avail.
So I said I'd try for him here.

The sample CD's he's looking for were apparently from an American company called Optical Media, & the individual sets referred to as Factory Sounds.
It's primarily string samples like violins/cellos/orchestras he requires.

Obviously these products - the CD's & the Emulator 3 XP - went out of production some time ago, but lurking around somewhere in someone's closet may well be a set of CD's that could bring a welcome end to the incessant phone calls from my friend as he stares bleakly at the black fascia panel of his now redundant Emulator.

Oh, he records with an old 02R & a RADAR MK3, & constantly battles with the technology involved with them. So suggestions for an upgrade to software land & all the benefits that would bring would obviously be fruitless. Trust me.

So, any closets of interest?

Best Wishes

I see old emu and akai samplers in cash converters / pawn shops.. they are sod all use except for the filters on them.. they have no memory.. and whats out there now software wise is FAR better... you could even port the emu samples.. as for specific emu sites.. try yahoo for a newsgroup :)

Hey, thanks for the info on Emu & Akai samplers and the eminently superior new software that's now available. 30 years in the biz, & it's amazing what you miss ;-)

I'm guessing here, but wouldn't Kontakt & Yellow tools libs, gorgeous though they are, be missing the necessary Emu programme to control the samples once loaded into a MK3 XP?

As I hinted before, my friend has a somewhat, shall we say, limited knowledge of the equipment he uses, so prefers a 'chose sound, play it & record' approach.  Programming, he feels, is only something people at NASA should do.

Simple sample CD's, that's what he's after. Me too, as he lives 178 miles away & don't fancy a porting tutorial trip or any other kind for that matter.
