I really liked both song & vid. Looks like you had fun doing it too. Only listening on lappy but it still sounds good. Look forward to hearing some more.

ha, yea bit of work gone into this and you can tell because it hold the viewers attention.

The song is good too, sounds like a good bit of processing on the vocals (maybe to mask some weak vocals, so fair enough).

That riff at 2:05 should come out a little more.

    Good work.

    Thanks guys!

@ whack... pretty much dead on mate... when u get a bit older, after 25 years smoking, does get a bit tougher to hit those high notes... combined with the popularity, and imo.. better sounding (used tastefully) pitch control.

All worked out for us.. fortunately..

onto another after a bit of tweaking on this one!

    Cheers!

PS. I liked your acoustic version of Rockstarin' on your site.. no running out of breath for u.. I'd be surprised if u ever smoked..

yea, the slight pitch control does work and fits with the modern sound.

Thanks for the watch and glad you liked that too.

No I dont smoke.....unless Ive had a few too many and the gorgeous girl im talkin to does smoke!!

    Keep it goin.

Love the Taylor! Man they make good guitars...

You have a very nice production here sir. In fact, I really, really enjoyed your song. Music is what we enjoy? And I enjoyed this "very much." Good job, damn good job! :-) It's funny, I would like someone to collaborate with like that? I typically do my stuff alone. If I could comment on how to improve this, I would make the drums more interesting. I'm not criticizing, again I really like what you've done here? I'm just saying it feels like it's a drum machine :-( And the drums can add so much...

Totally agree my man!.. actually the drums are just a couple of samples Ive merged, its really one of the last things I have yet to finish, some breaks and fills, jazz them up a bit, also, just to add a bit of delay on the ending phrases of my vocals, and add a few keyframes to the video.. and then hopefully, it will all come together..

That Taylor is Fred's baby, that and his telecaster.. Joined at birth I think lol...

Thanks for the great comment.. perhaps we could do something in the future, I'm up for working with anyone with talent.

    regards. :)

I really loved everything you did in the verses, especially the haunting arpeggiated support lines and the verse harmonies.  Superb!  I do feel that the song loses momentum in the chorus section.

Thanks Tom, as I am now trying to finalize everything, I will try to work on your critique. My vocals in the chorus need work.

    much appreciated.

I listened to your soundclick stuff, really enjoyed 'Never really say goodbye'... is that a real Slide guitar goin on in that track? it's beautiful.

You got a nice Dwight Yoakam thing going there. Shades of 'Aint that lonely yet'

    Impressive !

Nice song, but to me the mix is not quite right, but then I suppose I have different speakers. Either the drum part is just a trifle bit loud and the background guitars are too soft when the singing is going on, or to me that could be changed just somewhat to keep the guitars and music more up front like the drums and singing seems to be (on my speakers).

haha this is cool -- the frog scared me in the beginning :O

A few thoughts on the mix -- the snare seemed to be a *bit* overbearing vs the vocals. Also it sounds like the vocals need a bit more dynamics control (compression or riding) to even them out. And perhaps the 2ndary vocal should be dulled a bit vs the lead vocal to help them blend better?

I really liked the drum beat. Though there was a bit of muddiness with the bass drum vs the bass guitar. My advice for this kind of beat -- let the drum own the lowest of the lows and sit the bass guitar a bit farther up in the high bass/low mids.

But overall a very neat sound :)
