Sonar won't record my Yamaha?

Ok I have a Yamaha YPG-235 keyboard. I'm connecting it via USB with an AB usb cord. I open up Sonar 8.5 LE and what do I do from there? I tried creating a new midi track and hitting the record button, but it doesn't even catch my keyboard everytime I hit a few notes. I tried creating an audio track, but it does the same thing. People are saying something about SYNTH stuff and I can't seem to do that, when I can't even record a midi. I've been playing around with this for HOURS and can not come up with anything.. I've downloaded all the USB/Midi Drivers and everything. When I plug it in, Sonar LE recognizes the keyboard, but it won't let me select it for anything..

Ah ok I finally got the midi to actually allow me to make the input my yamaha keyboard. And it's reading the keys perfectly fine, but there is no sound coming from it. So I'm assuming I have to make it into an audio, but how do I accomplish that?

    Welcome to the forum.
In the MIDI track, select the input (the USB device that is connecting your Yamaha to the computer).
Choose an input channel. That would depend on which channel the Yamaha is sending data. MIDI Omni works in most cases.
Select an output, either a hardware synth (your keyboard) or software synth if you're using a soft synth. Set the output channel and the patch (instrument sound).
Arm the track for recording and click the record button.
    Good luck!

Ok It is showing my notes that I am hitting. I put the output as my piano and it plays on the piano, but I want it to play through my computer speakers. I am also going to be singing over these piano recordings as well. Thank you so much for your help, but I have NO clue how to use soft synths at all.

Nevermind! I got it!! I had to setup my output settings and add my speakers to it. (: But for a side not, does anyone know how to loop a track?

Right-click a clip and select Groove Clip Looping. The edges of the clip will become bevelled to show it's a Groove Clip. You then grab either end with the cursor and drag it out as far as you want.
For best results, the clip should start and end exactly on the measure lines.

Ok I'm getting it to loop, but it has that pause right in the front from me not pressing any keys. How do I drag the whole track to the very front. It's allowing me to drag it, but it will only let me drag it forward and not all the way to the COMPLETED beginning of the track. Actually it has that pause no matter what I do.. I clipped my notes recording and made it exactly how I want the loop to be, but whenever I go into the looping, it automatically puts that extra space afterwards after every loop...

That might be because to clip does not start exactly on 1 or ends past 4.
Right-click the clip and unloop it by selecting Groove Looping to turn it off then right-click the clip and select Properties. That will show you when it starts and stops.
