*SOLVED*Is there an easy/quick way to roll back X1b Producer from Build-255 to Build-244?
I 'uprated' to see if it would help with the problem of my Pro-Channel switching off in 64-bit operation. However, since I moved to Build-255 (which didn't mend the Pro-Ch problem) SONAR seems to take ages (often 30 - 40 seconds) for a project to load. Before I changed, my projects would literally open in a matter of just a couple of seconds. Edit to clarify - SONAR itself loads almost immediately, it's when I select a project from the Quick Launch screen that the delay begins - I get the 'busy' mouse pointer until the project loads. I don't really want to do a System Restore - does anyone know the correct procedure (short of reinstalling X1b)? Many thanks in advance.

Is it perhaps just that it is doing a VST scan on startup that is causing it? Uncheck the Scan for VST plugins on startup box under Preferences - File - Vst settings.

See if the update made a backup folder. I notice that on my system I have a backup folder in the X1 directory with dated backups. I also vaguely recall CW saying that they would create backups for their updates so we can roll back if needed.

Thanks for your quick reply Lorne - it's not that I'm afraid, I always have that switched off (and I just checked that it was off to be sure). The problem actually occurs when I select a project from the Quick Start screen - that's when the 'busy' mouse pointer appears; I'll edit my OP to make that a bit clearer. SONAR itself launches to the Quick Start screen almost immediately.

And thanks for chipping in - I do have the backup folder (dated two days ago) which contains Build 242 (the version I updated from). Inside the folder is SONARPDR.exe - if I try to run it I get this error message: Now I really know I'm way out of my depth/comfort zone I wonder if I could just try downloading and running Build 244 to see if it over-writes 255? Or just wait for X1c LOL

You don't try to run it from there. "Backup & Recovery - The QuickFix installer will automatically backup your existing SONAR installation, the default location will be 'C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR VERSION\Backup\DATE\Version_Build.Number' If for any reason you need to restore to X1b you can do so by replacing the files in your installation directory with the ones found in the Backup folder." I try to run it I get this error message That's because it's not in the main SONAR program directory where it needs to be. Rename the SONARPDR.exe currently in the program directory to something like SONARX1b255.exe, and copy the build 255 SONARPDR.EXE from the backup folder back into the parent directory.

Do this at your own risk! Copy the file you have in the backup to the full X1 directory. The one where the new Sonarpdr.exe is and that may get you back to the last version. I have not tried this and can not say it will not screw up your setup but if you also make a backup copy of the new Sonarpdr.exe before you do this it should be fairly safe. Edit; Dave has posted the idea better than I did. I have been around but not here. LOL Thanks for noticing.

You can't run that file directly - you need to move it back into the Sonar folder and overwrite the newer version. Here are the instructions for rolling back hot fixes, taken from this page: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013244 Backup & Recovery The QuickFix installer will automatically backup your existing SONAR installation, the default location will be 'C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR VERSION\Backup\DATE\Version_Build.Number' If for any reason you need to restore to X1b you can do so by replacing the files in your installation directory with the ones found in the Backup folder EDIT: Wow - in the time it took me to find that info there were a few other posts saying the same.

I think you would need to copy the Sonarpdr.exe from SONAR X1 Producer\Backup\04162011\Version_18.0.2.244 to the main Sonar X! Producer in Program files.

Just a thought here. Rename the original SONARPDR.EXE file and then copy the 244 version to your X1 directory. I did this to roll back and had no issues. I did find that if I tried to execute the sonarpdr.exe file from the backup directory it would not run because it couldn't find some files. Don't know if this will help but you've got nothing to lose. Good luck. EDIT - Sorry, redundant info!!!! Forum software is slow to update.
