Hot tip: a useable electric guitar sample for $10
I'm a sucker for free and cheap Kontakt libraries, and have a bunch of them. Typically, they are very limited, but if they're good at just one thing, they're still keepers. One of those was the Ripper Amped library from Lyrical Distortion, which until August 5th can be had for $10. It only does one thing, but it sounds good.
If you want to hear a bit of it, I used it on a song awhile back called "Me, In the Back of a Limousine". Click on the link in my sig. A short Ripper Amped solo starts at 2:49 with subsequent appearances at 3:40 and 4:38. There was no amp sim used; what you hear is what the library sounds like out of the box, with just a little delay added.
This is definitely a fun little library for ten bucks. Don't bother with the other electric guitar libraries, though, they're quite ordinary and have a few fret-noise and tuning issues. The acoustics are a little better but nothing special. The only other LD library I'd recommend is the Dirt Bass.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
