X1 Advanced Workshop

I got another email from Cakewalk today advertising the new X1 video instructional being offered. It sounded like something I'd get some good from and the price was good too, so I bought the download. It's very good and I'm glad I ordered it.

It's a big file and takes a long time to download, so you might want to start it before you go to bed and let it download during the night. But it's well worth the wait. Very glad I made the purchase.

Thanks again Cakewalk!

just out of curiosity what you using DSL or Dial up internet? How large of a file did it end up being? I know I had some files I got that were in sections 1.5Gb 2Gb and 2Gb and it downloaded fairly quickly with my Cable connection.
Is the file larger then 10GB? I have been thinking of getting it but was wondering if it would be worth it for me since I use SONAR X1 Essential? I would hate to spend the money and download it to find most of the information deals with Studio or Producer and feature I do not have although I have really been debating of upgrading to studio mainly because it comes in 64bit and since i have 12Gb ram and planning on expanding to 16GB thats the only way I can use the extra memory i believe.

The file is about 1.46GB, so if you have cable, the size shouldn't be much of an issue. Took me a couple hours with DSL.

Although the video is aimed at people who use Producer Edition, I did put a fair amount of effort into making it "compatible" with Studio Edition - for example, quite a few of the ProChannel applications can also be done with the Sonitus effects.

As to Essential, there's a description of the chapters here. I'm not very familiar with Essential so I'm not really up to speed on which features are in Studio/Producer that aren't in Essential, but the list of topics should help you decide whether there's enough info to justify your getting the video.

I'm on the mid level DSL speed and it said it would take 300 minutes (5 hours), and it actually was a little longer than this. I started it around 3 pm and it was after 8 pm when it finished. I started the download when I was going to be away from the computer for a few hours.

BTW, I really love the chapter on getting a stereo sound on acoustic guitar without having to use two mics. And the chapter on editing wth the smart tool. The whole video is good.

Thanks for putting out the video. I just used two of the techniques today with great results!

    Win 10 (64 bit), i7-2600k 3.4GHz , 8 GB RAM, SATA III (500GB SSD - System, 2TB WD Black - Data), Sonar Platinum x64, m-audio Profire 610

To me its the best video on X1 anyone can get. There is something for everyone in there. I would recommend it to all X1 users.

Also one can actually understand the narrator.
