What team(s) developed X1?

I am wondering whether X1 was architected and developed by the same teams that architected and developed previous versions of Sonar. Did Roland play a stronger role in the architecture of X1 than previously?

I have noticed a few inconsistencies in the X1 interface (e.g. browser default folders ignoring the paths entered under options, enabling synth icons in one panel, and having to disable them in another, etc.), that I wonder whether the team that developed X1 was not grounded in previous versions of Sonar. Also, X1 more strongly imposes its own file structure than previous versions of Sonar (e.g. can't change or remove default browser folders).

I can't find the post where a similar question was posed, but from what I *remember*, Roland didn't really play a role in the "architecture" and/or design.  I believe the Boston area team was still the main force behind X1.   I think they did use offshore contractors to some extent, but that's a very common practice and not necessarily a guarantee that things won't be "consistent".

Cakewalk has said all along that Roland do not play any part in SONAR's development. It is still the programming team/s at Cakewalk. Their crossover is when hardware is being developed as in the VS-700 etc.

The notion of off shore contractors was put forward some time ago as well and Cakewalk have never copped to it. Pure speculation that has nothing to do with reality.

Cakewalk was always a software developer and remains so even under the Roland umbrella.
