Volume Quieter when recording

Hello,

When I try to record my synthesizer via the line in on my sound card, the volume level of the recorded piece is quieter then when I simply played it on my keyboard.  It is not just in the quieter in the recording either, it is quiter when I use the piano roll to click in notes or when I play back something off the piano roll as well.  In fact the volume is fine until I arm the track and click the record button on the control bar.  When I do that the volume immediately decreases on this synth.

I seem to remember a setting somewhere that allowed you to decrease the volume of midi but Im not sure where it was.  This also only happens on one of my synths the rest work just fine.  I don't think it is a setting on this particular module.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Does moving the volume slider on the track change the volume you hear in record mode?

Are you sending data to a soft synth or are you using the synthesizer to play the same Midi data you are recording?

I'm a bit confused because in one part you talk about recording audio and in another you talk about Midi.

Oh sorry I guess I should've been a little more clear, Im using a midi track to control a hardware synthesizer.  I also have a separate audio track that I have set up to receive the input on my soundcard which the hardware synths output is plugged into.

And yes I can turn the volume up and it works just fine that way but i'd prefer not to have to turn the volume up and down on that channel every time I wanted to try something while recording or playing it back...especially cause when clicking play and playing back in the piano roll it is quiet but when I click in a new note with the draw tool it's twice as loud... It's sorta wierd.  Im not sure if sonar is having a problem or if I clicked some random box somewhere that set it up that way.
