Silent buses detected.
I'm hoping for a bit of advice... my limited experience isn't helping! After a power out last night Sonar and my RME fireface400 interface arent talking nicely. After getting 'Silent buses detected.> master silent' dialogue on opening projects, I've gone into 'options>midi devices' and re-selected inputs and outputs but I still dont hear any audio or midi that i've recorded. I then tried rebooting but no go When I try to assign an input to a new track I'm not getting an options list when selecting RME 400 from the dropdown list. I'm sure this is basic stuff but sad to say I'm clueless as to the next step. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks SonarPE 8.5.3, RME ff400

If you could post screencaps of all the tabs in your audio options window I think we could fix this very quickly.

After a power out last night Sonar and my RME fireface400 interface arent talking ni Is it possible that a voltage spike related to the power outage damaged your RME? This is a possibility...

Hi again, after many hours and tears, here's the dropbox link to my audio options (seems to be one link for the 4 files). http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3...ptions%20displayed.JPG As earlier, I still have no audio or midi out, but the messages don't show at the opening of a project. cheers.

Hi gcolbert, yeah my big worry is that the RME is damaged by the power-out. Not sure if it involved a spike or not... hard to say, but the power was off and back on again in a split second. The RME iitself is still lit up but the fact that it no longer appears as an option when assigning inputs to an audio track is a worry. Especially because I've got a job deadline for a client due in 24 hrs! I've got a 'uninteruptable power unit' in between my PC and the mains power and the RME is powered by the computer via firewire so while it never lost power as such, it may still be vulnerable to a spike via the PC or other hardware connected to it, such as front end gear etc...?? My monitors and the rest of my gear seems to be alright, but I've lost midi output The' midi in' activity monitor in my task bar still lights up when I play notes on the midi keyboard but of course i'm not hearing anything back through the RME.... guess I'll get back under the hood again

OK, the first thing I notice is that no device is showing for the Playback Timing Master in the General Tab. Click the little arrow at the right of the box that says NONE and see if you can select the same one that is the Record Timing Master, ASIO Fireface Analog 1. I also suggest unchecking all the devices that you aren't using in the Drivers Tab. If you aren't using the ADAT drivers or the SPDIF drivers, Uncheck those. Make sure only the ANALOG drivers are checked and enabled.

Many thanks Chappel, yeah I should have picked that one up myself! I've also unchecked the additional ins and outs in the drivers tabs as you suggested and I'm back on air!! I've also had to go through projects and re-assign track audo inputs and master outs etc ... I don't seem to have any hardware damage which is a great relief. I've 'signed' in all my gear specs and now I know how to post screencaps so i feel a bit more forum savvy Anyway, thanks again...It's a great relief to have some help when you're stranded. Cheers all

Hi, I just got the software and I am having the same problem - the "Silent Buses Detected" message has come up on every project with the Master being the problem. I tried the solution above but found that there were no options in the Recording Time Master Box. Please can someone help me find a solution? Thank you!

If you could post screencaps, or links to the hosted image files, of ALL the tabs in your audio options it might make the problem visible.

I ran the wave profiler and nothing has changed on the Devices tab, the input drivers list is still blank. Sorry I am new to this so won't know too much, I have a microphone preamp which I will use for guitar and microphone recordings, but need a new adapter for it so it's not in action yet. Is there anything else I could try?

Not to my knowledge, playback on other programs is fine, do you think there are drivers that haven't been installed on the soundcard?

Is this the audio device that is built into your motherboard or is it a sound card that goes into a slot in the motherboard? Check your Control Panel>System>Device Manager to see if it is installed correctly. See if there are any Optional Windows Updates for it.

I've installed the drivers from my boot CD so silent buses aren't the issue anymore, and I did install the updated for the drivers. I now have sound coming from the microphone and can get the metronome, but the mic seems to generate a trmolo effect (it doesn't in other programs) and the keyboard still doesn't generate any sound.

I have had the silent busses detected error on the main bus before and it was because I had another program open using my interface prior to starting sonar and failed to close it..... DUH!!
