Annoying line in track view

A-a-ar-r-gh!

I must have pressed the wrong key and that annoying little white vertical line with the numbers at the top so small only a sharpshooter see them are eating away at the pathetic remains of my already-failing sanity. And I have no idea what the thing is called, so I can't find any reference to in Help and can't search in the forum.

!@#$^%^&&(

Please help. My children can't afford iPods.

    It sounds like you have invoked "Aim Assist" in track view.  You can toggle this in View/Display/Aim Assist.

    Thank you.

    Kind of hard to know how I enabled that beastie. Tucked away pretty well, it is.

    And Thank you again.

    Could have been worse. Had you pressed 1 immediately after the X, your computer would have self destructed.
