Have you also tried Superior Drummer? I was curious. Is BFD better IYO? Thanks for the heads up.

I've got EZDrummer (all expansion packs), SD2 (most exp packs), Addictive, RMX, a slew of libraries that run under Kontakt (Steven Slate, etc...) and BFD ECO (with several expansion packs).  In short...more drums than you can "shake" a stick (or mallet, or brush) at.  And I just upgraded to BFD2 full.  While I have always loved the simplicity of EZD...I'm one lazy sum****...SD2 provides more power and control, which is what many folks want.  This is also the case with BFD2.  I think once I start really working with BFD I'm gonna love it.  I already like it's GUI and layout.  Seems very intuitive to use.  But for me, you cannot have too many drums and percussion instruments.  There are too many different styles and sounds in the music I produce to be handled by any one product alone.  I'll keep ya posted, ol pal.

OK OldPal , I appreciate you keeping me posted. I appreciate all of the things you guys  post here to help out. I never wanted to admit it, but the more I learn the less I know.

I have had some very good results with posting the separate components of a drum kit on different tracks. If I take just the loop or sample dry and it sounds like a pretty well recorded loop, lets say a nice snare. I can put it into the environment I want to get it into reverb and eq wise and put it where I want it to be timewise, then I find that I'm doing essentially what a real engineer would do with a real drum part.

Hearing yours and others experience with these kinds of programs has me seriously thinking about the advantages of it over what I'm doing now.

Then I have a question for you Ol Pal. :) I mentioned that in another thread, I think the audio demos on Toontrack's website don't always do justice to their kits.

I was curious about their Retro Drums. Though they mention Bonham in the description, the actual demos sound much more dry and "Ringo-esque", so to speak. While I dig Ringo a whole lot, I'm usually more inclined towards huge drum sounds, and I didn't hear anything in the demos which let me believe that I could expect this type of sound from that expansion.

I'm guessing that it'd pretty much be a matter of cranking the room mics channel and maybe adding something like Magnetic. Is that the case? - Last time, I opted for their Classic kit instead. Next one will probably be either the Nashville or the Retro.

To me...and this is just personal preference...but the Nashville Kit is their best.  Bar None.  And, to be honest, I've been somewhat disappointed in "The Classic" kit.  And, I find, I don't have the very latest kit yet...and may not get it due to my BFD upgrade.  YMMV.

The Nashville one does indeed seem good - from the demos, my favorite one. Much to my surprise, as I wouldn't typically think that I'm after anything usually associated w/ the Nashville sound. But admittedly, that's based upon an old stereotype. This things sounds versatile to say the least.

    Thanks for the info! :)

IMO the Nashville Kit is the the best that Toontrack has to offer. I use a lot of their kits and have both EZ and Superior and I find myself always going back to the Nashville kit the most.
