Without doing arcane edits to the config file, which obviously the average user isn't going to even be aware of when expecting a program to just function as expected - then yes, it's still the case that one has to close the control bar before bouncing. -- That's the work around. It must be Really Difficult for the programmers to fix that major flaw, since it's been there in X1 since day one. Meanwhile, the average user who doesn't know squat about editing the config file, has no way of knowing that the--um--the CONTROL bar there at the top of the program can't be on while bouncing. Since it makes no sense to close it before bouncing, the only sure way a new user would find out about that stupid fix is if he/she spent time here on the Forum listening to all of us natter on about Sonar. Crazy. People across the world are sitting there thinking, "Wow--this program sure takes a loooooong time just to bounce an audio track." So lame. RB

Wow that's pretty bitter stuff, Randy. I recall doing various edits in the Sonar config file since at least V2. It's nice to have the option IMHO. AFAIK there is also no need to close the control bar. I certainly don't and mine is fine. Is the "listening to all of us to natter" a reference to the wealth of misinformation promulgated here by some? I feel bad if the programs not working as well for you/others as it is some of us but is it really neccesary to jump into so many threads with a diatribe on the program. If it's that bad move on to something new or stay with 8.x and leave the rest of us to try and help work through the problems others are having with X1. Some seem to have forgotten but there were problems in Sonar before X1, some more than others. IIRC I believe V5 was my worst experience I worked through it and have been reasonably happy with the rest so far. X1 so far for me has been very good thank you and a welcome revelation YMMV.

I for one am truly appalled that a problem for some users has been identified and a workaround published in the support section of the site while a fuller fix is still pending. What awful support that is. I don't know how they sleep at night.

RB Your post is implying that everybody faces the same problems but some of us are too stupid to know it. Please - stop insulting us! I do NOT need to close the control bar when bouncing, and speed is not a problem for me. I am sure I am not the only one! I am not saying this problem does not exist. I am merely saying that this problem does not exist for everyone like you are suggesting.

OK here's the deal: When I bounced after I first got X1, it took a long time. Then the fix came X1a. Then it didn't do it any more. Problem solved. Then it started again. That's when I did the config thing. Problem solved. Now it's doing it again. The only thing I can figure is one of the small quickfix updates screwed it up. And I don't have the Cbar open all the time so I went a long time before I noticed it. But it won't happen when the Cbar is closed.

This is fixed in X1C. In fact fast bounces will be slightly faster than 8.5. Till you get this try closing any open plugin windows before doing the bounce. It should speed up considerably.
