Best way to record, re-record and

Hi Everybody

I have a ESP. M-100FM (looking forward getting a ESP model with 81 and 85 active EMG pickups) a toneport ux2 and pod farm.
I'm getting a Boss metal zone mt-2, love the sound it makes.
The way I record is clean using a separate track with my desired sound to hear myself play then move the recorded track to the track that has pod farm.
Question
Should I record using pod farm with a clean amp?
Question 2 I'm not sure how to approach changing the already recorded guitar tracks I have so that it's routed and re-recorded with distortion any suggestions?

Thanks all

From what I understand about your setup is that you plug in through the Toneport, and the Pod Farm as a VST in Sonar?

In that case, it comes through clean and the PodFarm VST effects the sound. If that is the case, then it doesn't matter. You can strip the effect off and have the clean. The Pod effect, or any other should be in the effects bin.

For example: I record with Guitar Rig 4. I use what presets inspire me to have a great take, I save the sound (usually the same name as the track) and then I can tweak it to fit in with the other instruments and such ...or start over with a new preset (providing I didn't process the effect to the track).

Make sense?

It makes perfect sense and will give it a shot next time.
The reason I record that way is when I first got into recording via the computer the recording had what pod was set to so when i would change settings it would sound garbled.
Thanks for the reply.

What you want is called re-amping.

You go from the output of your sound card into the outboard effects input. Then take that into the input of your sound card and asign sonars track to that input and record it in real time.
